This is (probably) the most self-indulgent post I'll ever write on this blog. But I'm so angry, and this seems the best place to let off steam. If you want to skip the long ranty version, essentially I bought a new netbook online, direct from Toshiba, but TNT won't deliver it to me.
The longer version: I ordered the netbook - the NB200-123 since you ask - on 19th December. I wasn't counting on getting it before Christmas, but on 21st I got the tracking number for the shipment with TNT, and their website said it was out for delivery.
So... that day, the 22nd, 23rd and 24th it was listed as out for delivery, but never arrived - when I called up, the customer services people at TNT said it was due to the snow and 'extreme weather conditions'. Which by Christmas Eve, presumably meant 'drizzle', as the snow had gone and the roads were gritted.
They said it would be delivered on the 29th, but at the end of that day I was told it had been sent on a lorry which couldn't get up my road, so it would be on a van the next day. Which it wasn't. or on the 31st.
Then yesterday (4th) it was listed as out for delivery again - but when I called up in the evening, it had been put on a lorry again which, yep, couldn't get up the road. So they said they'd put it on a van today - but it wasn't listed for delivery, so I called up and was eventually told nothing more can happen until I speak to Toshiba. A flat-out refusal to deliver the package that's got my name and address on it.
I don't understand why. Maybe TNT has lost it. Volleyed it into splinters playing netbook football in the depot. Given it to the depot manager's son to do his homework on. Who knows? The last customer services man I talked to certainly sounded embarrassed.
Having rung up Toshiba, I'll apparently get a callback from their sales team within 48 hours to help. If they can't, I guess I cancel the order and go and buy a different netbook, in person from a shop.
So much for the joys of e-commerce.
UPDATE: I have only good things to say about Toshiba's sales and marketing team, who have called me back several times already today with progress reports, and are sorting it all out for me. Now, if only they can stop it snowing tomorrow as forecast...
